CHEF DE PARTIE
An exciting opportunity to be part of The Black Swan Team. We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and passionate individual to become part of our established and close knit team. We have been at The Black Swan for four years now and have consistently grown year on year, with many more to come.
You would receive excellent training directly with our Head Chef, who has been lucky enough to work for some of the nations best chefs. The attention to the finer details in balance of textures, depth of flavour and refined cooking techniques are vital.
We work closely with our suppliers and aim to source the very best local produce where ever possible, from Bromham veg supplied by Lovejoys of Melksham, to our award winning meat supplied by Walter Rose + Son. Where needs arise we will go further afield to get the very best.
We are featured on Estrella Damm's Top 50 gastro pubs list for the third year in a row where you will find only the very best dining pubs featured. We also won The Muddy Stiletto award for ' Best Destination Pub' in 2023. Although we are not into chasing awards, we are extremely proud to have made these lists as an independent.
The role will consist of -
- Preparing, cooking & presenting high quality dishes.
- Assisting the Head Chef in creating menu items, recipes & developing dishes.
- Preparing meat & fish.
- Assisting with management of health & safety.
- Assisting with management of food hygiene.
- Managing, mentoring & training Commis Chefs.
- Monitoring waste & portion control
- Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen & food safety standards.
Applicants must have -
- A passion and eagerness to learn
- The ability to adapt
- A great attitude and friendly demeaner
- Own their own chef whites and knives
- Team player qualities
- Flexibility with shift patterns
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to travel to & from work / have their own transport
Other -
- At least 2 years’ experience in a professional kitchen
- Food hygiene certification can be provided but beneficial if already held.
- Development potential with direct mentoring and coaching from our Head Chef with various qualifications in leadership and people management.
- Possible progression to Sous Chef for the right candidate.
- Food safety, stock rotation and product training will all be provided, along with all other kitchen management systems.
Full-time, Permanent, Salary: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year depending on experience.

PART TIME FRONT OF HOUSE TEAM MEMBERS
An exciting opportunity to be part of our team here at The Black Swan, we are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and experienced Front of House Team Members.
The role will include -
- Waiting tables - Meeting + greeting guests, taking orders, delivering food + drink to tables and overseeing the running of your section.
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Shifts will include a mix of daytimes, evenings & weekends, please only apply if you have the flexibility to commit to this.
Our ideal candidate will have -
- Must be 18+ to commit to the shifts needed.
- Previous bar / waiting experience preferred but not essential as training can be given.
- Excellent communication & people skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure
- Great attention to detail.
- A friendly manner.
- A positive "can do" attitude.
- A willingness to learn.
- Ability to travel to & from work / have own transport. The role will include some later nights so own transport / within walking distance is a must.

- Flexibility to work evenings & weekends.
